Paul McKenzie is a journalist, presenter and reporter with a distinctive and confident style and with specialist knowledge of lifestyle, music, sports and current affairs.

Paul has been a regular contributor to Touch Magazine (he was the Editor from 2006 to ‘08) as well as writing features for The Times (Times 2 & The Knowledge), The Guardian, The Independent, Time Out (editor of the Carnival Guide 2004 to ‘07) New Nation, MixMag, Big Issue , The Face and England Magazine (where he was deputy editor). No stranger to new technology, he also edited the PlayStation website and the music website for Sony’s dance label INCredible, winning him the coveted Online Music Award in 2000.

Paul devised and presented the critically acclaimed BBC Radio 4 documentary ‘Marching All Together’, and in-depth look at the African American University and college marching band set up. And let us not forget ‘Brand It Like Beckham’ (BBC Radio 5 Live) which again he devised and presented.

Keeping in line with the Beckhams, Paul also devised and presented one of the most talked about documentaries of 2003, ‘Black Like Beckham’ (Channel 4), a provocative documentary on the country’s leading footballer, which was critically acclaimed as “innovative” and “ground breaking”.

Paul devised and voiced ‘The Academy’ (BBC Radio 5 Live), a documentary relaying the trials and tribulations of a current crop of youngsters within the Birmingham City FC Academy. Other radio includes Paul sitting in for Adrian Chiles ‘Chiles on Saturday’ (BBC Radio 5 Live), bringing his sporting and political knowledge together for a three-hour feast of sport and current affairs. He is a regular guest on LBC radio and has made several appearances on a number of television programmes, debating everything from the Beckhams to current cultural trends. Paul’s other television credits also include ‘Heavy TV’ and documentary ‘Bootylicious’ both Channel 4.


Paul is passionate about all sport but football is his first love. He was an on screen reporter for Sky Sports covering the Nationwide Football League for the season 98-99. He was a reporter for ‘Sports Talk’ (Granada TV) and a regular contributor to ‘Soccer AM’ (Sky One). His reporting for BBC Radio 5 Live’s ‘Parkinson on Sport’ on ‘Racism in Football’ was nominated for a prestigious broadcasting award and he followed up this work in a report for ‘Black Britain’ (BBC 2).


Come the weekend, Paul is to be found at his beloved White Hart Lane on the terraces of Tottenham Hotspur or travelling to clubs up and down the country, dressing up and getting down to Funky House, Northern Soul and Rare Groove. When he keeps still long enough, he’s to be found hanging out in his beloved East End with a cold beer and a slice of Ernest Hemmingway.
